⭐ Easy

Measured and recorded

You'll need

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored and cut into small chunks
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Optional: 1–2 tsp maple syrup or brown sugar, if needed

Method

Let's make it

  1. Put the apples, water, cinnamon and lemon juice in a large microwave-safe bowl.

  2. Cover the bowl loosely so steam can escape.

  3. Microwave on HIGH for about 4 minutes, then carefully stir.

  4. Microwave for another 3–5 minutes, until the apples are very soft.

  5. Let it cool briefly, then mash with a fork or potato masher. For smoother applesauce, blend it with adult help.

  6. Taste it before adding any sweetener — it may not need any.
