LOVE AT FIRST BITE

From Lovely's chocolate cupboard

You'll need

  • 36 small pretzel twists
  • 1 cup (170 g) milk, dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons neutral oil or coconut oil, optional for smoother dipping
  • 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles or small decorations

Use what you've got

  • Use white chocolate or a combination of chocolates if that is what you have.
  • Crushed freeze-dried strawberries can replace sprinkles.

Aprons on

Let's make it

  1. Line a baking tray or large plate with parchment paper. Pair the pretzels side by side, with their rounded edges touching, to make 18 heart shapes.

  2. Ask a grown-up to melt the chocolate with the chosen cooking option. Stir in the oil, if using, until smooth.

  3. Spoon a little melted chocolate where each pretzel pair meets, then drizzle or spread more chocolate over the tops so the two pretzels hold together.

  4. Add the sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.

  5. Chill for 20–25 minutes, or leave at cool room temperature until completely firm. Lift each heart carefully from the parchment.

Cooking options

📡 Microwave — Ginger's Speedy Method

A grown-up heats the chocolate in a dry microwave-safe bowl on medium in 20-second bursts, stirring after each burst, until almost smooth.

🔥 Stovetop — Ginger's Main Method

A grown-up sets a dry heatproof bowl over barely simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the water, and stirs until almost smooth.
