From Ginger's pantry

You'll need

  • 1 mug of hot water (a grown-up boils it)
  • 3–4 thin slices of fresh ginger, or ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp honey, or a little more to taste
  • A squeeze of lemon, if you have one
  • A cinnamon stick, if you're feeling fancy

Aprons on

Let's make it

  1. Put the ginger slices in the bottom of your mug.

  2. Grown-up: pour in the hot water and let it steep 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the honey until it disappears.

  4. Add the lemon squeeze and the cinnamon stick.

  5. Wait until it is warm — not hot — then sip it slowly by a window and watch for snow.

Cooking options

🔥 Stovetop — Ginger's Main Method

A grown-up boils the water in a kettle or pot, then pours it over the ginger to steep for 5 minutes.

📡 Microwave — Ginger's Speedy Method

A grown-up can heat the mug of water in the microwave until it steams (about 1½–2 minutes), then add the ginger and steep for 5 minutes. The mug will be hot — a grown-up lifts it out.
