Ginger makes it
Ginger asked for something with a bit of protein in it. Lovely returned three minutes later holding a bowl of chocolate. Technically, she delivered.
Lovely matches it
Almonds get crunch, chocolate gets company. Lovely files this under Perfect Match; Ginger files it under Unresolved.
TWIN APPROVED*
Healthy argument. Lovely result. Ginger disputes the first half of that sentence. *Ginger disputes the definition of approved.
From Ginger's pantry
You'll need
- 1 cup roasted unsalted almonds
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- Optional: a tiny pinch of cinnamon
Aprons on
Let's make it
Melt the chocolate gently with a grown-up helper, stirring as it goes.
Stir in the almonds until they are lightly coated. Add the pinch of cinnamon if you like.
Spoon them out one by one onto parchment paper so they don't stick together.
Let them set until firm, then pile them somewhere Lovely can find them.
Cooking options
🔥 Stovetop — Ginger's Main Method
A grown-up melts the ½ cup of chocolate gently at the stove, stirring the whole time, then takes it off the heat before the almonds go in.
📡 Microwave — Ginger's Speedy Method
A grown-up melts the ½ cup of chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on medium in 20-second bursts, stirring after each one, and stops as soon as it is nearly smooth. Stir the almonds in off the heat. The bowl stays hot, so scooping is a grown-up job.
Twin talk
- Ginger: “I said we should add some protein.”
- Lovely: “Almonds have protein.”
- Ginger: “Yes.”
- Lovely: “And I've matched them with chocolate.”
- Ginger: “…I walked right into that.”
Contains: Nuts (almonds). Always check the labels on your own ingredients with a grown-up.
