You'll need

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup crispy rice cereal (stirred in at the very end)
  • ½ cup pumpkin or sunflower seeds
  • ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or neutral oil
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional variation: swap the seeds for chopped unsalted nuts

Let's make it

  1. Mix everything together EXCEPT the crispy rice cereal.

  2. Spread the mixture out on a lined baking sheet.

  3. Grown-up: bake at 325°F (165°C) for 20–25 minutes, stirring once, until golden.

  4. Grown-up: take the hot tray out and let it cool completely — that's when it crisps up.

  5. Stir in the crispy rice cereal last, so it stays snappy.
