What you'll need

Build it
Justin: “Popsicle sticks provide structural integrity. Toothpicks provide foliage.”
- 1Glue three craft sticks into a triangle on your cardboard base. That is the frame.
- 2Glue a fourth stick under the triangle as the trunk, then let the frame dry properly.
- 3Colour a pile of toothpicks green while you wait.
- 4With a grown-up nearby, glue green toothpicks across the triangle in rows, angled slightly downward like branches.
- 5Keep layering until the frame looks bushy. Ask a grown-up to trim any wild ends with scissors.
- 6Add a star on top and a few decorations, then let it dry flat before standing it up.
Grown-up help, please
Toothpicks are sharp and there are a lot of them in this build, so a grown-up should supervise the whole foliage stage and do any trimming. No knives and no hot glue — child-safe craft glue is all this tree needs.
